The Fish Pond and the Frog

Whats the fascination of water with cats, Olly and Rico on their first adventures out of the house spotted the pond and set off to explore,, the vegetation was pretty much fully grown, lilies and iris ect, bear in mind it was July/August time. Olly set off and the small waterfall was his first target, he sniffed and stuck his paw in, my god it’s wet and cold,, you could read his actions as he frantically shaked his damp paw, did that deter him, No. Meanwhile Rico who swaggered down to see what Olly had spotted came across a strange prehistoric mammal,, a frog. I don’t know who was the more startled, Rico or the frog but I do know who was the more inquisitive. A jab from the left and one from the right made the frog hop, Rico jumped a mile, Olly decided to take over and sort the alien out. He jumped from the waterfall and landed on the frog, in what seemed to be a split second, Olly too jumped up with the frog as he landed on him, the frog scarpered into the pond and Olly and Rico were left to do the forensics as to where the frog has suddenly vanished, no sniff could bring results.
Olly soon got bored and decided to playfully attack Rico as he could probably think of nothing better to do, Rico, taller and more intelligent jumped over the waterfall and away in to next doors garden, Olly, stumpier and docile could only manage a shorter jump, yes it was to be, Olly got wet, his front paws managed a nail gripping hold onto the waterfall, but his back legs and body took a christening. Twenty minutes of licking and shaking followed, oh Olly.

Bath Time

You boot the cats out to do your house work, clean the bathroom out and finally sit down relax with a coffee, hmm wheres the cats, yep Olly does not let you down.

Olly`s Roof Top Protest

I shall not, i shall not be moved

You know how it is, you get up at 6.30 in the morning and look out of the landing window, see your cat sitting on your next door neighbours roof, its only when you get half way down the stairs does reality kick in and you think, what the hell.
Sure would have it, Olly had managed to get onto the flat roof at the side of my Neighbours house and scramble up to the apex and declare himself a member of the vertigo club.
Would he come down, no, not for me, food or anything, luckily for me my daughter was bad and off school so a quick ring to work and a days holiday was booked. 10.00am, 12 noon and 2.00pm had passed, still motionless and by now I was getting worried, I think he is slightly brain damages at the best of times but I don’t fancy him being up there for another cold frosty night so against my better judgement I rang the emergency services to see if they could get him down. Not to be im afraid, they wont come to a stranded pet unless the RSPCA advise them to, they told me to give them a ring, I did and a very helpful and understanding man told me that if Olly had not come down by the following morning to ring again and he would pass the case on to an inspector, cheers guys, cheers Olly.
The man in shining armour who came to our rescue was Roj, my work colleague and someone who is definitely not scared of heights. A three section ladder fully extended in front of next doors house just reached, Olly by this time and it was 4.00pm had managed to luckily edge himself to the end of the apex where the ladder was positioned. Roj took a big breath and said goodbye to his devilish good looks (fearing when he plucked Olly off the roof he would turn into Edward Scissorhands) and made his way up the ladder, as a back up I had prepared a large box of old coats to catch Olly should he get to violent and Roj had to drop him down,, yes I was to catch the baby should it turn sour.
Not to be, Olly was grabbed and tucked in under arm, he was petrified, shaking and feeling very sorry for himself he just held on for life. Ground zero was achieved; he has not been near the roof since, oh Olly.

You`ll never take me alive

Garage Rescue

Olly gets his wish and departs to the nightlife culture at about 10.00pm every night, not really knowing where he goes or how far, we always say can we put a tracker on him and find out what goes on and where,, im sure he is off on his travels with Rico up to no good, one thing i do know is, well he’s not to popular with my next door neighbour, twice he has got locked in his garage and i have had to knock him up to let Olly out. Luckily he is a cat lover and see’s the funny side of things once he has wiped the sleep out of his eyes.
This is usually the scene before 10.00pm

Olly`s Introduction

Olly Resting

Rico Resting

We decided that we would add two more cats to our family, why, i don’t know but having a border collie named Billy and a black female cat called Irma some might say we have enough pets, but the this very day I start this blog we lost Irma due to severe kidney failure, very sad indeed, she was 12, unsociable, invisible but always hungry.
Now for the boys, Olly who we have nicknamed Oliver Wagstaff and Rico. Strange names yes indeed but when I tell you why it will be come clearer.
May 2009 both were born, Rico came from a relation in Newcastle Staffs, while Olly was born in Stanley Village nr Stoke on Trent.
Rico was first to arrive Saturday morning, he got out of his carry box and immediately made himself at home, Billy gave him the once over and a few hisses from Rico the initiation was over, welcome Rico.
Why name him Rico,, well, after a laid back cat we lost a few months earlier Busby, Busby walked like a Jamaican, slow and care free, he reminded my work colleague of a Stoke City footballer named Ricardo Fuller, so when he arrived we had no problem naming him Rico, short for Ricardo.

Now then Olly, he arrived about an hour later, he swaggered in to the house and straight away made a beeline for Rico, he just wanted to play but Rico was not so welcoming and hissed, Olly was to show character from the off, he just kept going back for more,, they made friends by the next day and the adventures began, more so for Olly, Rico just behaves and plays it cool. Why name him Olly, Oliver Wagstaff, well we had already agreed to call him Olly, but he has strange habits, one being that he always wags his tail like a dog, when he walks up to you he wags his tail frantically, hence waggy, which grew to Wagstaff,, Oliver Wagstaff.
